Tasting Notes:

This wine shows a brilliant pale straw colour in the glass. The nose lifts with aromas of kaffir lime, pear and ginger. Delicately poised with mouth watering acidity balanced with lime juiciness and lifted orange blossom florals. The palate has great presence with a fine chalkiness leading into a persistent finish.

Technical:
Originally a pastoral run dating back to 1839, and originally named Wolta Wolta, Jim Barry purchased the land for The Lodge Hill Vineyard in 1977 as he was sure it would “produce some of the best Riesling in the Clare Valley.” Situated at 480 meters above sea level and situated on the Eastern Ranges of the Clare Valley, the grapes at our Lodge Hill Vineyard are exposed to concentrated bursts of sunlight and cool nights which encourage slower ripening. This helps deliver beautiful natural acidity and citrus characters that ripen early because of the small crop it produces. Gentle pressing and a rapid move into the fermentation allows the natural fruit flavours to be preserved.
Accolades & Awards:
91 Point Rated - Mike Bennie Halliday Wine Companion

"Freshness is a strong calling card of the wine, though the acid profile is a bit skittish and edgy as a comment. Expect tonic water, floral lift in perfume and palate, gingery spice, white pepper, celery salt and a big squeeze of lime. Refreshing, no doubt, but the acid needs to settle in, and should do well with time."
